Bannie Got Jumbie
It happened in Canefield. That's where I lived when I was a boy. What happened? Well, some Christians came to Canefield and preached, and people were acting weird. The news came to my relatives and I heard one of them said, "Bannie got Jumbie."
I passed by the house where the church service was kept. On that day I was on my way to or from a cake shop. I saw Bannie bending over and throwing her long hair around as she moved. I think Bannie was bending over in worship. I didn't understand such behaviour but I was not scared. I never thought that anything was wrong with Bannie.
Bannie had converted from a Hindu to a Christian. She kept going to church. I could hear the chuckles when some people talked about Bannie's new faith. Was Bannie possessed by a Jumbie (evil spirit)?
I know for sure now that Bannie was not demonstrating the actions of an evil spirit or Jumbie. Bannie was filled with the Holy Spirit. It should not amaze me and scare me when someone gets filled with the Holy Ghost. What amazes me is the unbelief of many Christians, even born again Christians, who show the same ignorance as my relatives, and ascribe the Baptism of the Holy Spirit to devils or Jumbies. Surely, after so many years of demonstrations of the Holy Spirit among thousands of witnesses, you would think that those Christians would repent and turn from their hard hearts, and stop grieving the Holy Spirit.
Let Bannie speak to your hard hearts. I don't know where Bannie is today. I know where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty. The spirit of God will not strive with some Christians to bring them into Bannie's and thousands of other Christian's Holy Spirit Baptism. They must repent and stop chuckling and calling the acts of the Holy Spirit acts of demons or devils. It is a shame to the Church that the children does not trust their heavenly Father to give them the good gift of the Holy Spirit. It is wrong to teach the children that they received the Holy Spirit baptism at conversion. The Holy Spirit Baptism (pouring out the gift of the Holy Ghost) can follow soon after conversion, but it is a separate experience. It is time to wake up from sleep on this matter and give the Lord the glory due to His name.
Every saint need to receive power to live a full abundant life.
One thing I recalled just now about the people's reaction to Bannie. They were not running away to hide from Bannie. If Bannie really had a Jumbie many of them would be avoiding her out of fear. So why such a reaction? My conclusion---Bannie had the Spirit of Peace.
Praise God and thank Him for the Holy Spirit Baptism.
I love you Holy Spirit. I love the demonstrations of your power in love. I love your presence. I love when you fill me and I can sing with languages I do not understand or never learned. Each time you do that I experience the supernatural or miraculous. I love when you take control of my mouth and I speak in English or my Guyanese dialect and you reveal things to me. Those acts are miracles. It is your power and for your glory. I give you all the glory.

The Spirit of God drove the Lord Jesus into the wilderness, etc. The Holy Spirit took control and moved the Lord Jesus. That was a definite manifestation of the Spirit of God to the man Christ Jesus. As a man, He also received manifestations of the Holy Spirit. However, He did not receive the Holy Spirit in measures like the born again believers. That also sets Him above other men and above women.
Power Promise Alive
The book of Acts, chapter two (KJV), has information that can help anyone struggling with the question whether the promise of the Holy Spirit is for this generation.
If you were taught that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is not for Christians now, you need to check out these scriptures. From Acts 2:16-20 you can know that the promise of the Holy Spirit was spoken by the prophet Joel. In verse 17 you find these words that are closely related to ones I mentioned in one of my previous blogs, "And it came to pass". The words "And it shall come to pass" gurantees a fulfillment of the prophecy. Notice that the verse does not end with the gurantee just until the day of Pentecost. The promise covers the last days. The last days are identified in verses nineteen and twenty. During the last days signs and wonders will be seen in heaven and on earth. They are determined to be done right up to the day of the Lord's return.
The Lord has not returned yet, so why say that the last days are over and the promise of the Holy Spirit baptism also is over? The promise is guaranteed until all the believers shall call upon the name of the Lord, verse 39. Are they all in the kingdom now? Shall we stop preaching the everlasting Gospel? Shall we water down the Gospel for this generation by doing away with the power that goes with it?
You doubters cannot stop the power from coming upon the ones who will believe the promise is still ALIVE.
"And it shall come to pass."

A Basic Universal Desire
This desire is with us so often that we are setting on auto response to fulfill it. You know it because you were once a child. Your parents know it because they have you and because they were once children.
Jesus addressed it in the holy scriptures. The gist of it is that even evil people know how to give good gifts to their children. The desire of children is to receive good gifts. The desire of most parents is to supply their children with good gifts.
Jesus excels above every parent in supplying good gifts. If you are His child (spiritual) you have experienced His provision and care. If you are one who doubts His promises you are in error. You can become a child of God and expect to partake of the children's blessings.
One of the good gift that God the Father desires to give you is the gift of the Holy Spirit. God the Holy Spirit is only for the children of God the Father.
You are most welcome to receive because you are a child of God and not a stranger.
Ask and believe.
If you don't receive right away that does not mean that the gift is not for you. The keys for receiving after several requests is importunity and patience.
Keep on believing.
One reason you may not get the desire fulfilled is because you need someone appointed by God to pray for you and lay hands on you. You need to follow God's leading and seek out that person. God does many things through human vessels that He has chosen. Submit to the one chosen by God and you will get better results.
There are times when God graciously baptizes believers with the Holy Spirit without anyone laying hands on them. This could happen in a prayer meeting, a church worship service, in your own bedroom by yourself, or under other conditions or circumstances.
